Certain elements of Google Now have existed on the desktop for about a year, but more recently Google has been working to bring the full ‘card’ experience over to the desktop first with Chrome Canary and then with the Beta build of Chrome.

Today Google Now cards finally cross over to the stable channel, bringing us weather, event reminders, sports scores and all the cards that we’re used to seeing on our Android devices. The Chrome notification icon can be found in your Windows system tray, or in the OSX menu bar for those on a Mac.

So how do you get in on the Google Now card action? Provided you have the latest version of Chrome, you shouldn’t have to do anything other than make sure you’re signed into Chrome with the same account you use with your Android devices. Google says the feature will roll out over the next couple of weeks to Chrome for desktop users.

For those that don’t want to wait, however, it is possible to turn the functionality on now by going to chrome://flags within the browser. From there you’ll need to manually set Google Now notifications to enabled. For those that are already receiving Google Now cards on the desktop, what do you think of the experience so far?
