The Android 4.4.2 KitKat update is already rolling out for two Google Play edition devices including the newly launched LG G Pad 8.3 and the “old” HTC One.
According to Droid-Life, both updates are currently available out over the air (OTA), but if you didn’t get a notification you can manually check for updates. The Android 4.4.2 build for the tablet measures 52MB, just like the Android 4.4.2 updates that were made available for other Nexus devices in previous days.
Droid-Life says that earlier today HTC posted the kernel source and framework support files for the HTC One Google Play edition. Soon after that, the first reports have started to come in saying that the update was indeed rolling out.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S4 Google Play edition is yet to receive its Android 4.4.2 update, although Samsung’s corresponding update will probably follow soon.
The Android 4.4.2 update was release shortly after Google launched Android 4.4.1, which brought camera improvements to the Nexus 5 and other fixes. Among various bug fixes, Android 4.4.2 also fixes an SMS issue with Nexus devices and “loses” the hidden, unofficial App Ops feature.
